This is a picture of my kitchen after the cabinets were finally painted white and the new hardware was put on but the wainscoting wasn't put up yet and the walls weren't painted the new teal color.

This is just a idea I'm kicking around about doing in my kitchen...a shelf above the kitchen window.  I've got plenty of room and I'm putting one below it too since I don't have a window sill.

This is a REALLY old picture of my kitchen after I'd painted the cabinets the first time and still had my old stove (my cat decided she liked the pilot light to keep herself warm) and the cabinets were cream colored with brass knobs and handles and the walls were some sort of green color...

This is the color I chose for my kitchen.  I'm putting white wainscoting from the bottom of the cabinets down to the countertops, which you can sort of see in the picture.  The valance I made myself with fabric I bought from walmart and the light I replaced myself...it was just one of the old ugly flat round ones from the 70's and I ordered this one from Lowes.com for only $9!  It was really easy to put in too.

Since the walls used to be all paneling and I've skim coated them with drywall mud, I had to fill in around where the old light was because this light's base is smaller but that didn't take long and then I just primered and painted it the area and it was ready for the light to go up.

This is what I've been working on the past couple of days.  It had the horrible mustard yellow and olive green swirled sheet vinyl floors and my dad helped me lay down luon for underlayment and I laid this peel and stick vinyl flooring in a couple of hours.  It looks fantastic.  I have this through the rest of the house and still need to put it in my bedroom (I have everything to do it with, we're just going to focus on finishing the kitchen, bathroom, and this room first).
Next is putting in baseboards, I have them painted and today I'm going to try my hand at cutting them and using an air nailer to put them up.  Wish me luck!
After that's done, I'm going to do a frame around the window and finish painting the trim around the door and the closet door and the closet door needs a 2nd coat of paint, then take the tape off the ceiling and this room will be FINISHED.  (After I put the outlet covers back on.)

I just repainted my kitchen cabinets (for the 3rd time) and put in new hardware.  I painted the walls turquoise, and I just installed a new light over the sink.  The old walls were paneling, so I used drywall mud to smooth them out, so when I took the old light down, I had to fill in around it where the original paneling was showing, then primer and paint it.  Then I installed the new light.  It was the first time I've ever installed new lighting myself so I was pretty proud that it worked the first time!

I also bought the material for the valance and used the iron-on tape and made a no-sew valance for over the kitchen window.  I bought the turquoise dining room curtains on Amazon for $16 for the pair and they match the kitchen pain exactly!  You can't see them very well in the picture because it was late afternoon and the light made the picture turn out dark but I'll get better pictures up later once everything is all together.  Right now my dining room table is a catch-all for all of my lights, saws, paint, etc. and that's my old dishwasher sitting next to the dining room window.  I still need to call a guy to come pick it up and get rid of it!
